When Antonio David talks about sound, you get the sense he’s speaking about something far deeper than music. For him, sound is connection. It’s memory. It’s language. It’s a way to make sense of the world — and to shape how others experience it.

Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, Antonio’s story begins in the classical world, studying music theory and playing orchestral repertoire as a young boy. But his vision stretched beyond symphonies and technique. “I always saw music as a form of storytelling,” he says. “Even before I had the tools, I knew I wanted to write music that felt cinematic — that could shape how a moment feels.”

That desire to tell stories through sound led him to EMMAT, a cutting-edge music and technology school in Bogotá, where he first explored the possibilities of digital composition. From there, Antonio set his sights on the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Film Scoring and a minor in Video Game Scoring. It was at Berklee that his love for narrative music evolved into a full-fledged career path.

But the roots of Antonio’s passion stretch back even further — to his teenage years scoring short films for friends on borrowed equipment in their bedrooms. “We were just kids experimenting,” he says. “But even then, I felt the magic of putting music to a story. That feeling never left.”

After Berklee, Antonio moved to Los Angeles, where he now works across film, television, advertising, podcasts, and interactive media. His creative voice — both versatile and emotionally precise — has found a home in projects ranging from major commercial campaigns to intimate indie films.

His credits include original scores for feature films like Cancelados by Argentine director Maxi Gutierrez and A Contraluz by Alan Stevenson, as well as sound design and composition for multiple video games and podcasts. He also contributed to the Paramount+ series The Agency, with two of his tracks featured in the Season 1 finale — a moment he describes as “one of those surreal full-circle moments.”

Yet it’s not just film and TV where Antonio has made his mark. His entrance into the world of advertising and sonic branding came through a creative partnership with Spanish composer Johnander Rabal, whose interdisciplinary approach to storytelling helped Antonio see the commercial world as a new creative playground. “Working with Johnander opened a door,” Antonio explains. “I started to see brands not as clients, but as characters — each with a story to tell.”

That insight brought Antonio to Syn, a Tokyo-based music agency and global production house known for crafting high-impact sonic identities. With Syn, Antonio has helped shape the sound of some of the world’s most recognizable brands, including The Home Depot, where he reimagined their iconic theme music for the brand’s 2024 holiday campaign. He also worked on a presidential campaign for CNN, helped curate music for First Horizon Bank, and contributed to sonic branding efforts for LoveFrom — the creative collective led by legendary designer Jony Ive — and their collaboration with Moncler.

Antonio’s commercial work spans industries as diverse as tech, automotive, finance, wellness, and pharmaceuticals. Whether it’s composing music for Blink’s global eye-care campaigns or assisting on projects for Don Julio and USA Network, he brings the same attention to detail and emotional resonance that define his film scores. When asked how he balances creativity with the demands of brand identity, Antonio doesn’t hesitate: “It’s actually a creative challenge I love. A brand is like a character with a voice, a rhythm, a soul. My job is to find that musical DNA — something honest and Unforgettable.”

Still, film remains his artistic home. He is currently working on original scores for upcoming films by directors Aaron Christian Paderewski and Maxi Gutierrez, with additional work confirmed for Season 2 of The Agency and multiple future campaigns for The Home Depot and other soon-to-be-announced major brands.

Despite a schedule that would make most composers dizzy, Antonio continues to nurture collaborations with artists in Colombia, Mexico, and beyond. Through Bogotá-based label Disco Amarillo and Mexico’s Inédita Records, he’s developed music that blends experimental storytelling with regional authenticity — a balance he strives for in every piece of work.

Later this year, he plans to release a collaborative album with longtime friends and fellow composers — a passion project that reconnects him to the spirit of his teenage years. “That bedroom energy is still in me,” he laughs. “That freedom, that experimentation. It’s what made me fall in love with this.”

As for what’s next, Antonio hints at a continued push into the world of immersive sound — from wellness spaces and retail environments to interactive installations. “We’re just scratching the surface of how sound shapes perception,” he says. “It’s not just about what you hear. It’s about what you feel.”

With a resume that spans continents and mediums, and a philosophy rooted in empathy and experimentation, Antonio David is part of a new wave of composers redefining what it means to score the world around us. Whether he’s crafting a 30-second ad or a full-length feature, one thing is certain — he’s always listening for the story.
