Experimental electronic artist Zerofuturism, widely recognized for his atmospheric ambient works, has officially released his long-awaited second Drum and Bass album, EVO 2, now available on all major streaming platforms.
Zerofuturism initially garnered attention within niche music communities through a series of ambient releases on his YouTube channel. In 2023, he expanded his sonic palette, debuting his first Drum and Bass album, EVO, on February 17. Later that year, he announced the follow-up project EVO 2, accompanied by the release of a lead single in August.
Originally scheduled for release in 2023, the album faced two postponements — first to 2024, and ultimately to 2025 — due to the artist’s pursuit of creative precision and artistic growth. Throughout this extended production period, Zerofuturism reworked much of the material, refining his sound and broadening the album’s stylistic range.
EVO 2 blends elements of Drum and Bass, Breakcore, and RAGE music, creating an intense, emotionally charged sound driven by distorted synths and complex rhythms. At the same time, the album showcases a wide stylistic spectrum — from aggressive, high-energy tracks to more melodic, ambient-infused pieces and even compositions with electropop undertones.
The album was written and produced by Zerofuturism, in collaboration with fellow producers Alv-01 and Yunfpuff, whose contributions further enriched the sonic complexity and diversity of the project.
EVO 2 takes inspiration from a diverse range of artists, including underground electronic acts such as Sewerslvt, Iwakura, and strxwberrymilk, as well as hip-hop innovators like Trippie Redd, Mario Judah, and Playboi Carti. This eclectic influence contributes to the album’s unique and genre-blurring sound.
In connection with the album’s release, Zerofuturism has announced the launch of a new alias, Shiora, under which he will continue releasing his Breakcore and Drum and Bass material. Meanwhile, the ambient works that established his reputation will remain under the Zerofuturism name — reflecting a clear artistic distinction between his creative directions.
EVO 2 represents a significant evolution in Zerofuturism’s sound — a bold, genre-defying project that solidifies his position as an artist unafraid to challenge boundaries and reshape expectations.
