For Larry Puckett, music isn’t just background noise or entertainment—it’s a through line that connects the chapters of his life, from the garage-band grit of his youth to the boardrooms of multimillion-dollar ventures. It’s a passion, a discipline, and a mindset. Known globally as a venture capitalist and entrepreneur who built his success from scratch, Puckett is as comfortable with a guitar in hand as he is pitching high-level investment strategies or leading Theon Global, his natural wellness company that’s redefining health from the inside out.
“I’m a music lover and a musician so my taste is very diverse,” says Puckett. “I love everything from big band, rap and Motown to worship, country and heavy metal. It depends on the mood and what I’m doing at the moment.”
That flexibility and range mirror his entrepreneurial approach—fluid, passionate, and unafraid to cross boundaries. It’s this versatility that helped him grow businesses from startups to major players, and now, with Theon Global, he’s applying the same mindset to a new frontier: the natural health industry.
Theon Global is a line of all-natural supplements aimed at optimizing wellness, and its ethos is deeply personal to Puckett. A lifelong fitness enthusiast and devoted family man, he sees health not just as a business opportunity but as a life mission. “Everything we feed our minds, bodies and souls affects us,” he explains. “Much like if you eat things that are good for you it improves your health, so it is that if you consume music or content that boosts your mind and spirit you become a better happier you.”
Music, then, isn’t a side note in Puckett’s world. It’s part of the core structure, as vital to his day as exercise, business strategy, or quality time with his children and grandchildren. Whether he’s throwing weights around at the gym or reflecting in a quieter moment, music plays its part. “I usually listen to Rap or Metal when I work out,” he says. “I don’t really have a top 5—it’s just whatever is playing at the gym. I don’t even pay attention to the words or the artist. Whatever gets me in the right headspace I go with.”
That headspace—fueled by rhythm, energy, and drive—is also what’s powered his work on stage, in meetings, and in mentoring others. Growing up in a musical household, Puckett’s foundation in music wasn’t just creative—it was formative. “Music has a profound impact in my life,” he shares. “My father and mother both loved music and played music together. My aunts, uncles and cousins all played instruments and many of my friends. I grew up around music. At a young age it helped mold my mindset.”
He continues, “When I learned to play guitar in the Eddie Van Halen era I fell in love with music on a deeper level and had the opportunity to play with some incredible musicians in bands as a teen and young adult. Pushing myself to be a good player and being on stage in front of crowds played a huge role in molding me as a speaker and leader in business. I didn’t realize it at that time but it would be critical to my career.”
That insight—how performing in front of a crowd can build the confidence needed to lead a team or pitch an investor—illustrates how interconnected music and business really are. It’s not a leap to see how timing, collaboration, creativity, and even improvisation on stage translate seamlessly into the business world. It’s in that intersection where Puckett thrives, blending rhythm and results, melody and metrics.
Although he hasn’t invested in a full-fledged music venture (yet), Puckett is no stranger to supporting the industry. “Items yes, ventures no, but I’m open to something that I align with,” he says, referring to his personal studio and his support of events like Elton John’s yearly high-profile Academy Awards celebration. It’s less about chasing trends and more about resonance—what aligns with his values, his energy, and his vision.
And when it comes to vision, he’s quick to champion those who inspire him musically. “My favorite guitarist and friend and guitar instructor Danny Dela Cruz is one of my favorite musicians,” he says. “He was with Inglorious and is now with Thrxnes. I think everyone should check him out. He is an incredible guitarist and vocalist. Evergrey and Alter Bridge are two favorites everyone should check out. I also highly recommend anything Rabea Massaad for guitarists.”
That personal connection to artists and the drive to uplift them speaks to Puckett’s holistic outlook. Whether it’s a breakthrough guitarist, a high-performing health product, or a breakthrough young entrepreneur, his mindset is consistent: support what’s real, what’s powerful, and what moves people—whether it’s the heart, the mind, or the market.
Even his last listened track, “Misfortune” by Evergrey, says something about the edge and emotion that defines his approach. There’s a rawness, a strength in navigating life’s complexities, mirrored in both the lyrics and the layered guitar work of the song. For Puckett, music isn’t passive; it’s participatory. It pushes him. It shapes him.
His company, Theon Global, is very much built from that same spirit. It’s not just about health as the absence of illness—it’s about peak living, emotional wellness, mental clarity, and sustained energy. Much like a great song, it’s designed to elevate you, to put you in the zone. “Music has a tremendous impact on a person’s mindset. It affects mood and even health,” Puckett notes.
In a culture where health, business, and personal well-being are too often siloed, Larry Puckett is reminding us that life is meant to be integrated—and music is one of the threads that pulls it all together. Whether he’s riffing on a guitar, guiding Theon Global into new markets, or simply finding inspiration in a heavy metal breakdown, he’s always in motion. Always in rhythm.
And perhaps that’s the true note to take from Larry Puckett: success isn’t a solo performance. It’s a composition. One with tension, build-up, breakthrough—and if you’re doing it right—a chorus you want to repeat again and again.
