What inspired the song “Payback Time”?
“Payback Time” is our very first song, and it is inspired by a blend of the way of life we want to live in comparison with the way of life we are forced to live and Karma. We are spiritual people, and “Payback Time” is our kind of redemption.
What’s the writing and recording process like for you?
Writing and recording a song are creative processes that bring us closer and let us get to know each other and ourselves better and deeper, and also bring us joy. Sometimes someone comes up with an idea, and then we all do our best to make it shine.
Who are some of your biggest musical inspirations?
We are inspired by most funk-oriented music such as James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Anderson Paak, and Bruno Mars.
What’s the best thing about being a musician?
We can sing our souls!
What was the most challenging situation you have ever faced as a band?
After we recorded our first single, “Payback Time,” we were about to start our very first gigs, but two of the band members had to stop playing with the band because of other obligations they had to attend to. The band had to move in a very short time to find new trustworthy members to keep the music flowing and be able to perform. The three new members fit perfectly in the feelgood company, and since then, we have loved to hit the floor in every venue we are invited to and make everybody dance in our groove.
What message would you want your music to send out to the world?
Life can be hard at times, or always, but it can also feel good. It’s all about our viewpoint. Everyone needs to release yesterday’s feelings to be able to roll to tomorrow’s ones. Good vibes and thoughts mixed with grooving, singing and dancing will let you funk your soul!
What can we expect from Martzi Feelgood’s next release?
Our next release, which will be in March, will be dedicated to all the free souls out there, so stay tuned.
